Simply put, no other school gives you better support to kickstart your career after graduation. If you don’t believe us, check out what some of our grads are doing!
In the dealings that I have had with Simon and VADA, there has always been an essence of professionalism. They set the standard to which all others look to attain. The talent that is produced by VADA is easily comparable to talent located outside of Canada. I often see talent that has trained at VADA compete for jobs in the American movie market. Aren Buchholz
Currently seen starring on Hallmark Channel’s third season of “When Calls the Heart,” Aren Buchholz has always had a strong passion for the arts. As an extraordinarily dynamic and charismatic actor, it’s no surprise that Aren is already very accomplished despite his young age.
Born and raised in the golden prairies of Saskatchewan, Aren’s interest in performing was sparked when he took centre stage as “Scrooge” in an elementary school production of “A Christmas Carol”. That passion continued throughout high school, where he won the University of Regina Best Actor Award while in 9th grade. Aren’s other passion was hockey, playing the sport at an elite level for a number of years.
After high school, Aren had to choose between the ice and the stage, and ultimately decided to hang up the skates. He then moved to Vancouver and enrolled in our Dramatic Arts Program Diploma to pursue his career in the entertainment industry. In 2008, he landed his first professional role on a local production, Space’s “Rabbit Fall,” as a recurring guest star. Since then, Aren’s credits include a supporting lead role alongside Christian Slater in “Way of the Wicked” and guest star roles in CW’s “Supernatural” and SyFy’s “Lost Girl”. Rumbie Muzofa
Rumbie is a Zimbabwean born actress who settled in Vancouver with her family in 2017. She grew up in Zimbabwe, Botswana and later South Africa where she began her creative life in the Fashion Industry. South African Fashion selected Rumbie as one of five up-and-coming designers from across the African continent to showcase her own fashion line, completely inspired by Marvel’s iconic Avengers characters. This was in celebration of 2015’s release of Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Inspired by this noteworthy achievement, Rumbie set her sights on some new creative goals which include Acting, Producing and Directing for Film and Television. She successfully graduated from Vancouver Academy of Dramatic Arts with a Diploma in Dramatic Arts, and distinguished herself by winning the VADA Showcase Grand Prize for Outstanding Monologue Performance; a performance which left the audience in tears.
Since then, Rumbie has landed various lead and supporting roles. One defining moment in her career was being cast on the CBC web series “Ashbridge”, which was produced and directed by Carl Bessai, who later became her mentor. This opportunity has now broadened Rumbie’s skills across a broad range of disciplines from producing, writing and acting.
Her most recent accolade was being named a “Star to Watch” at the 8th annual “Stars to Watch” program presented by UBCP/ACTRA as a result of her role as a producer and lead actress in the film “Evelyne”, which premiered at Whistler Film Festival. We can’t wait to see what she does next!

Scott Patey
Scott is from Alberta and came to Vancouver in 2009 to enrol in our Dramatic Arts Program Diploma. During a recent interview, he shared some thoughts on his time spent at VADA:
“I specifically came to Vancouver to train at VADA. Without that training I would not have an agent (I got my agents from taking part in the Showcase at the school) and would not be booking the work I am. VADA was a perfect place to start. I gained a lot of confidence and did a lot of networking. The lessons I got in audition technique at VADA have proven invaluable. The sense/memory (bringing emotion from a memory) has really helped. Also having such great teachers to audition for on a regular basis stops me from being afraid to audition for anybody else.”
His words of wisdom for aspiring actors:
“Do Not Give Up! Also, let yourself get frustrated. It is a part of it all. Listen to your teachers and experienced people in the industry. You do not always have to do it the way they would, but take from that advice and make smart choices. Surround yourself with positive people and last but not least, no matter what your schedule always remain involved with your passion somehow.”
