Hey, VADA friends, we have some exciting news to share with you! The company Vertical now has the distribution rights in North America for a crime thrilled called Breakwater, from director James Rowe. Fan favourites Mena Suvari and Dermot Mulroney star in the film, as well as VADA’s very own alumni, Darren Mann!
WHO IS DARREN MANN?
Darren Mann is a three-time Leo award-winning actor who completed our Dramatic Arts Program Diploma. He’s appeared in shows and films like Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Let the Right One In, Van Helsing, iZombie, Supernatural, The 100, and The Tomorrow People.
SOME MORE ABOUT BREAKWATER
Darren plays a character who has been recently released from a prison in Virginia. Now that he’s on the outside, he is tracking down the daughter of another inmate (Mulroney), his mentor. Unfortunately this means breaking parole when he leaves state and enters North Carolina to find his mentor’s daughter living in Outer Banks.
The two of them strike up a bond that grows the longer they’re around each other, but the daughter’s past threatens to throw a wrench into things. We don’t want to spoil too much for you, so you’ll just have to watch the movie when you can!
PRAISE FOR BREAKWATER
We’re confident in saying that Breakwater is going to be a hit—it already won Audience Favourite Feature Film as well as Best Actor (Mulroney) when it screened at the Boston Film Festival. Audiences at the SCAD Film Festival, which takes place in Savannah, will also have the chance to see it.
