As studios re-open, many productions are far behind schedule. This means a lot of projects need to be scheduled and cast, which also means opportunity for actors.
Whether submitting a self tape to an agent for representation or to casting for an upcoming role, learning to use the necessary tools to create high-quality online content and having the training under your belt to deliver impactful auditions is going to be even more crucial to your success then ever.
8 week On Camera Audition Intensive Online Courses are perfect for teens (16+) and adults who are looking to learn about audition etiquette and technique as well understand how to use the tools of the trade to create their own online auditions.
First 4 Weeks
Instruction focuses on understanding the present audition process, including self-tape set up, Zoom auditions, slating, commercial auditions, memorization techniques, best methods for sending your clips to agents and/or casting.
Students are introduced to one liner auditions as well as Guest Star auditions and perform these with instructor feedback provided after each performance followed by Full Zoom Callback Auditions.
The first week, instruction focuses on learning on camera technique. Students are introduced to technical aspects involved when working on camera; being grounded, stillness, understanding what’s in the shot, camera angles, hitting your mark, cheating the shot, emotional reactions, before and after moments and key differences working on stage vs on camera.
In the second week, students are introduced to elements involved in Scene Study and learn about script analysis, breaking down a scene, increasing the stakes, pacing and tone. emotions and making concrete choices for their character that serve the story.
As production re-opens, auditioning will likely involve both live and self tape auditions for the foreseeable future. So in the third week, students are introduced to Auditioning and Self Tapes. Topics cover the do’s and don’ts of auditioning, audition etiquette and procedures, slating, asking questions, dealing with mistakes, losing a line, use of props, audition strategy and how to create your own self tape submissions.
At the end of the first 4 weeks, students are also given an opportunity to Q&A with the instructor to get all of their questions answered about the challenges of being an actor and what it takes to become a professional working actor.
Second 4 Weeks
Students will work at further developing their On Camera Audition Technique with detailed feedback provided by instructor in each class.
The final weeks focus on Getting an Agent. Instructor provides professional insight about creating a professional package; content and format of cover letter and actor resume, getting headshots, and the best way to send their package to agents. Students learn about the role of an agent, agent commissions and expectations of the both agent and actor. The students will discuss the process of getting an agent, expectations of an agents and expectations of casting directors and professionalism in the industry.
